How may I proceed with an autistic person? | |
|
|
If you don't
know any autistic person, the should seem a lot different of any other
person you know. In many cases it could let you constrained, exactly because
you are dealing with something unknown to you.
In Brazil, it's common people to get constrained in presence of a handicapped person. Maybe there is a cultural difference between another countries, because in Brazil it's rare to see handicapped people on the street, and because of the rare situation, when it occurs, "normal" people find it queer. But there is no reason for it to happen, because handicapped people only want the same thing other people want: to have their rights and to be happy. And to leave the odd sensation, it is enough knowing those people, knowing what to expect from them in public or private situations and then knowing how to proceed. To you who don't know any mental handicapped person and want to know them, we made a section where parents and friends of autistic people share their experiences. Reading this chronicles, you will be able to figure out some strange behaviour and not be surprised for them. |
